THE Beach Blog

What's in a name?

Wednesday, July 23, 2008
In order to achieve our goal of positioning our region as a unified, single destination, we had to give it an identity- a name.  Although many names were considered, we ultimately decided on the name, THE Beach. While there are many places with beautiful beaches in the world, no other beach can compare to our beautiful, sparkling white sands, nor the total experience of going to THE Beach- the natural beauty, luxury accommodations, great restaurants and shopping, a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, family oriented entertainment, fishing, golf and more. This name, and the marketing efforts that go along with it, will redefine what it means to "go to the beach."

THE Beach is more than silk-soft, white sand. It’s more than turquoise surf. THE Beach is a collection of original beach towns that stretch 190 miles along Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast. And in each locale, the experiences awaiting you are lively and diverse.

THE Beach is 190 miles of sugar white sands that stretch along Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast. Countless beach towns strung like freshwater pearls create THE Beach. Each town has its own vibe, from eclectic to upscale, and everything in between. Getting to THE Beach is quite convenient, whether driving or flying. Regional airports in Pensacola, Panama City and Okaloosa County Airport in Fort Walton Beach offer direct flights from several US cities. Private planes utilize Destin Airport in the heart of Destin, or Bob Sikes Airport north of Crestview.
