Back to THE Beach

It’s time to get Back to THE Beach for an All-American Summer!! Summer 2009 is all about remembering what it was like when thrills were cheap and memories were abundant. Short trip, long trips… even a “Day-cation” or two… grab you camera and hit Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast. Photos can be submitted in any order all summer long, but there will be weekly winners, so get shooting!

Here’s your assignment… Should you choose to accept it… it’s a Scavenger Hunt!

• 1. Go fishing in Destin and hook a Red Snapper or other fish, or stroll along the docks and watch the fishermen unload the day’s catch. Make a silly fish face and photograph yourself with a fish!
• 2. Order a dozen raw oysters on the half shell in Apalachicola and snap a picture as you slurp them down.
• 3. Visit the Constitution Convention Museum State Park in Port Saint Joe. Pretend you’re one of the original drafters of the document and strike a distinguished pose.
• 4. Strap in and hold on tight in a stationary flight simulator at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. Show your American military pride as you pose for the camera.
• 5. Make a stop at the Panhandle Butterfly House in Navarre and document the flight of these elegant creatures. Photograph any of them, but your challenge is to try and get a Zebra Longwing, the Florida State Butterfly, to stay still long enough for a photo.
• 6. Pay a visit to the Ogden Museum of Southern Art @ WaterColor in Santa Rosa Beach to see masterpieces by famed Southern artists. Find a work of art that inspires you and snap a photo with it.
• 7. Show off your golf skills at one of the fabulous courses in Panama City Beach. Whether it’s miniature golf or a championship course you’re playing, smile as if you just won the Masters.

The Back to THE Beach Photo Scavenger Hunt Contest begins Monday, June 1 and ends Monday, September 7^th (Labor Day). Start submitting your pictures on June 1. Prizes will be awarded weekly. You must complete all seven photo locations to be eligible to be entered into the grand prize drawing that will be awarded after September 7.

You must join as a fan to be able to enter. Click “add photo” on the right hand side of the page under photo’s. Each week the photograph with the most comments (or votes) will receive a “Back to THE Beach” t-shirt . Comment on your favorite photo to cast your vote. Only 1 vote (comment) per person. Be sure to encourage your friends and family to become a fan and vote for your photograph!

Entrants that complete all 7 assignments will qualify for the grand prize drawing to be awarded after Sept 7^th.
